Want to experience a luxurious getaway without the hustle and bustle of another exaggerated California resort? Then it’s time to check out CordeValle Resort, South Bay’s best kept secret (so far)! CordeValle is located at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains and offers a feeling of both relaxation and luxury. Its luxurious atmosphere is further enhanced thanks to its idyllic location in a beautiful natural landscape with rolling meadows, wild flowers, rushing streams and threatening trees.

This five-star boutique hotel offers 45 spacious bungalows, villa suites and fairway rooms and homes, each with incredible views of the 1,700-acre property and golf course. Outstanding features depending on where you live include private outdoor spas, outdoor terraces, flat screen TVs, fireplaces and sumptuous bathrooms with bathtubs.

“Since 1999, we have been proud to provide the best service to our members and guests. CordeValle approaches hospitality in a very personal way, one that combines 5-star service with the family feel of an intimate club for members only, ”CordeValle CEO Luca Rutigliano said. While we are famous for our award-winning golf course, we also offer a wide range of facilities for every type of guest. For non-golfers we have four tennis courts, a golf academy, a beautiful outdoor bocce court and soon pickleball courts. Those looking for a more relaxed getaway can take a dip in our course-facing pool or enjoy The Spa by CordeValle. Accommodation is available for both non-members and members. ”

At the heart of this sprawling property is CordeValle’s prized 7,360-yard award-winning golf course designed by internationally acclaimed golf architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., who defines it as his finest creation. The course is undoubtedly one of the most well-kept around. Complimented by the stunning Northern California landscape of meandering streams, sycamore trees, gorges and wide meadows, the course has been recently renovated with updated greens, fairways, tees and new white sand to its 63 bunkers. Its 18 holes have hosted the 2015 PGA Cup and the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open and are an experience, whether it’s a pro or a novice.

“The course itself is back and better than ever. Not only is CordeValle renovating the world championship course to its original grandeur, but it includes newer, improved technologies that provide top-notch conditions and improve the golf course’s playability, ”says Rutigliano. “Our members can expect to be on a top course all year round, rain or shine. Bunkers have been updated with new liners to help in the rainy season, and the greens and fairways are uniform grass. ”

If you are not a golfer at all, there is plenty to enjoy here. To begin with, CordeValle is close to Clos La Chance Winery, reminiscent of an Italian villa. where you can indulge in wine tasting and bite on the boutique winery’s scenic property in Hayes Valley (any of which the resort staff can zoom in on via golf cart).

Bistro Clos features items like crab melted with avocado and melted mozzarella on sourdough and New York steak sandwiches with beer-stirred onion rings, in addition to gliders and quesadillas. Plan a trip to learn more about its production and hospitality facilities from one of Clos La Chances’s valued sommelier, which includes insight into the entire winemaking process. The vineyard is open to the public and displays specimens that reflect the diversity of varieties that have popularized the north central coastal region, Rutigliano explains.

CordeValle also has a premiere wellness spa; advanced fitness facilities; a heated outdoor pool a tennis center with tournament courts, ball machines and a knowledge training pro (seriously, Benjy is the best!); hiking trails meandering through oak trees and wild-flowered hills; a bocce ball court a fantastic rose garden and so much more! If you are interested in art, the property also has an impressive collection of art curated by the resort owner.

At CordeValle, our mission is to provide the highest level of service and luxury hospitality to our members and guests. While many of our guests travel to CordeValle for our award-winning golf course, many of our guests will also relax by the pool, enjoy a spa treatment, take a tennis lesson with Benjy and enjoy a memorable wine paired meal in front of our stunning settings, ”continues Rutigliano. “The key to CordeValle’s long-standing success is that we treat every stay and every guest in a very personal way. We know what wine they like to drink, what room they like to live in, and when they usually start their golf day. ”

The key to the hospitality program at CordeValle is the newly appointed head chef Goran Basarov, who uses a similar personal approach to his cooking and menu as the resort does in his guest relationships. Chef Goran oversees the menus at One Iron Bar, Lion’s Peak Grill and Il Vigneto.

“Chef Goran has over 10 years of global hospitality experience and incorporates international flavors into his cooking in a new and unique way,” says Rutigliano. “Previously, he served as head chef at PlumpJack Group and is adept at using locally sourced ingredients to produce fresh bold flavors from around the world.”

The most distinctive dish is the pizza from their wood pizza oven and the homemade pasta, according to the CEO. “Many of our guests pair their dishes with a wine from our extensive wine list or opt for our signature drink, CordeValle Heat Margarita.”

Finally, new to the resort are monthly wine series dinners, where guests are pampered for nineteen with curated four-course dinners paired with the perfect wines. Definitely plan an overnight stay to experience an evening of excellent food, party and wine training from sommeliers on site. The introductory dinner featured Louis Roederer Champagne, paired with Chef Goran’s epic menu of Tomales Bay oysters, rustic dinner rolls with whipped duck fat, tuncudo, hand diver scallops and baked chocolate ganache. Definitely an evening to remember!
