The Caribbean island of Curaçao lifted the last of its coronavirus restrictions on the island this week – just in time for busy summer travel. The destination now welcomes visitors back with an island-wide campaign for free hotel rooms on upcoming tours.
Now through June 29, you can book three nights and get a fourth night free at certain hotels throughout the destination for stays between June 19 and October 30, 2021. It gives you even more time (and space in your budget) to spend lounging on Curaçao’s breathtaking beaches, diving to 65 plus various sites (including shipwrecks), trekking its hiking trails, strolling the streets lined with the famous candy-colored houses and experiencing the island’s rich cultural heritage.
As the island is located on the outer edges of the hurricane belt, it offers reliably good weather at all times (even in summer and autumn), making this an offer worth taking advantage of. Expect short, isolated showers followed by plenty of sunshine and sustained 84 degree temperatures until the end of October.
Here are the hotels participating in Curaçao’s new campaign:
- Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort
- Avila Beach Hotel
- Papagayo Beach Hotel
- Dolphin Suites
- Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort
- Country House Bona Vista
- La Palmeraie Mini-Resort
- Piscadera Harbor Village
- Mustique Suites Curacao
All members of Curaçao Apartments and Small Hotels Association (CASHA) also participates, giving travelers additional options for more intimate accommodation.
The campaign is to celebrate Curaçao’s lifting of more coronavirus restrictions. While the island has been open to international travelers since January 1, 2021, it recently ended its curfew and lifted capacity restrictions on hotels and attractions. What’s more, vaccination efforts on the island have helped it reach a record-low 0.15% coronavirus positivity rate over the past three weeks – an achievement worth celebrating in itself.
“After going through a difficult 2020, the hospitality and tourism industry is now making an aggressive comeback and travelers are eager to get away this summer,” Paul Pennicook, CEO of the Curaçao Tourist Board, said in a press release on 9 June. . “During the last 14 days, Curaçao has only seen 10 positive cases per year. 100,000 people. With an even greater desire to serve our visitors, paired with new hotel deals and immersive outdoor adventures, Curaçao is fundamental for travelers to create meaningful experiences this season. ”
While Curaçao has loosened its pandemic restrictions significantly, it still enforces entry requirements to keep locals and visitors safe. Travelers visiting Curaçao must still complete a paperwork before departure (including one digital immigration card), get a COVID-19 test and upload negative results before the trip, and be sure to get an antigen test on the island on the third day of their trip. However, government officials are talking to doctors about changing this policy, so keep an eye out for updates on the Curaçao Tourist Board’s travel advisory page.
With its “live and let live” setting, limitless Curaçao creates a great first destination to visit after more than a year of lockdowns. The island’s friendly locals, the stunning countryside and the famous hotels put you in holiday mode in no time.
