If you check in The Cove on Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas this summer you not only get access to their amazing water park and a free campaign for a fifth night – you also get free scoops of a crisp signaturis. Developed by Tipsy Scoop, New York City’s spirit-infused ice cream shop, Guava Lime Cocktail Ice Cream is a vegan coconut base infused with rum and guava.
Tipsy Scoop has been serving ice cream to adults only for several years from its New York area “Barlors” or by mail order – but perhaps driven by everyone’s newfound desire for fun, it’s expanding to Boston this summer along with appearing in the Bahamas.
Are you not ready to travel? Or maybe you prefer vodka or gin in your spicy frozen treats? No problem. OddFellows Ice Co. just introduced a number of new varieties inspired by cocktails from some of the world’s best bars, including To jewelry in Barcelona and Maybe Sammy in Sydney – and they send them directly to your door.
“Enjoying a world-class cocktail in a beautiful bar is the absolute best,” says OddFellow’s co-founder Mohan Kumar. “We wanted to capture that experience and celebrate our colleagues in the hospitality industry with this crisp capsule.” Of course, the idea is bittersweet … many of us have not been able to sit at a bar for more than a year – and the hotel industry suffers from it. To this end, the store will donate 10 percent of sales from the six alcohol-based flavors to Another round Another rally, a non-profit that provides grants and in-depth training scholarships as well as emergency assistance to workers in the hotel industry.
“Boozy is something else,” says Kumar. “Especially since people have not been able to enjoy their favorite cocktails or spirits as much as they used to find, they are finding more creative ways to enjoy delicious effervescence at home.”
For a store that has offered more than 500 varieties over the years, it is not surprising that they have always had a kind of spiked option – from rosé pops to Aperol spritz slushies, but this offer is unique due to input from this world- class bars, says Kumar. It was not easy to get the mix straight, he adds. “Inherently, the ice cream or sorbet must be sweet,” explains Kumar. “Trying to balance it with the way the actual cocktail tastes is difficult, but I think we’ve done a spot-on job creating creations of them.”
